Situated on the northern bluff overlooking the Caloosahatchee River, the main feature of the house became a large 1,500 sq. ft. porch fronting the lawn and river view. Features such as large roof overhangs, cross ventilation, high ceilings, central attic fan, and permanent construction materials make the residence a superb example of the vernacular Florida style of Architecture. The operational cost of this residence is quite small for its large volume of space. The historical concept of having the children’s bedrooms upstairs for security and isolation was implemented in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath symmetrical layout for the children on the second floor.
