A young couple that wished to live and raise a family in the neighborhood, purchased one of the original homes in prestigious Carlton Grove. Though architecturally attractive and built well in 1920, the interior of the home had very little room for a growing family and their needs in the 21st century.
A large 2-story addition was designed and added to the rear of the property that included garages, utility rooms, and storage on the ground floor with a complete guest suite and kitchen upstairs for visiting in-laws and friends. The challenge was to construct the large addition with details, materials and dimensions to match the existing historic home in order to portray a comprehensive estate. In addition, a covered architectural breezeway was designed to connect the older home with its new companion structure.
